2017 Junior Program Package

If you have any questions about the Junior program at The Winston, please contact Kim Valleau, Junior Program Co-ordinator at 403-984-1703 or

Junior membership at The Winston is an annual membership open to any child from 6 to 19 years of age as of May 1 of the registration year.

A child interested in joining The Winston as a junior does not have to be in the family of a The Winston member; they are welcome to join as a non-affiliated Junior. The membership application form can be downloaded here.

Pioneer Troupe

The The Winston Golf Club Pioneer Troupe Junior Program is an introduction to the game of golf, for non-member. Each troupe will be made up of three age-appropriate golf development levels that golf instructors will teach and guide juniors through. Juniors will learn important golf skills and techniques, as well as leadership, sportsmanship and etiquette.

During your child’s formative years of golf, the emphasis will be on physical literacy. Time will be spent learning the ABC’S of athleticism (agility, balance, co-ordination and speed) allowing the junior to have control of their own bodies. For this reason, your child may take part in exercises and drills that may seem non-relevant to golf, but are in fact supporting their development. Games and other sports educate your child’s ability to throw a ball, (basic hitting action) catching a ball correctly (hand eye co-ordination) and running (dynamic balance).

Pioneer Troupe Schedule and Pricing

Junior Girls' Club

The goal of the club is to create frendships and emphasize fun on and off the course. As participants, girls will develop the skills, attitude, and positive image of themselves as athletes on the golf course - enouraging both self-esteem and a life-long love the game.

The club offers girls an opportunity to play golf, meet other girls their age and experience competition in a supportive environment.

Activities during the season include three holes of golf from modified tee boxes followed by a social activity such as mini-games, cupcake decorating, yoga, a movie night and popcorn, and a dance class from a dance instructor.
